Cam recommendation

My car weighs about 3600lbs with fuel and driver. I want a streetable cam that has power off of the line, but makes good power to about 6200.
I have a
58mm TB
Electric H20 pump
7/16 1.6 ratio NSA Comp Pro Mag rocker arms
1 3/4" primary Long tubes
3" collectors and 3" high flow cats
Smallest size pipe in my exhaust is 2 1/2" most of it is 2 3/4"
2800 stall converter with lockup
4L60E
3.45 rear end gears
285/40/17 tires

Here are my approximate flow numbers:

Valve life .100 .200 .300 .400 .500 .600 .700
Intake 70 146 202 244 269 275 273
Exhaust 60 116 153 172 187 193 196

What is your suggestion for a cam IE what cam would you run?

Re: Cam recommendation

I think you would like the new XFI cam from comp. the number is 07-467-8. That would work great with the beehive springs.

What type of times are you running with your current combo?

Re: Cam recommendation

I don't go to the track! I am just trying to have a decent street car.
How's the 503 compare to the 305 and 306?
Looking at the CC chart it looks like it is a step down from the 305, but I am not a cam expert.
I'll check out the 07-467-8

Re: Cam recommendation

cc503 ?? His heads flows 275cfm @ .600 I think he deserves bigger than 503 CC306 (230/244) or GM847 (234/242) would be better I think.

Seems several of you are missing the details I highlighted.

I might try one of the XFI grinds under 220 on the intake

So?

I know lots of people use GM847 for their street car. If bigger than 220 is not for daily car there would be a serious problem here

Re: Cam recommendation

how about the power off the line with just a 2800 and only looking to go to about 6200. The 847 fit those criteria too?

Re: Cam recommendation

Peak at 6200.... he doesnt wanna spin this motor to the moon. CC503 and dont look back. I think its actually a step up from the 305. Duration is the key.

Re: Cam recommendation

Thanks for all of the input. I probably added a false premise. I don't mind spinning past 6200. I was trying to show that, I would rather have solid power across the rpm range vice a strip only cam that had a 3800-7500 power band.
Sorry if that caused any problems. I believe that I want something hotter than a hotcam/ CC305; looking at the CC website the 305's operating range is 1500-5500.

Thanks, how does it compare to the 847 and will it idle?

Re: Cam recommendation

just do a custom cam. your going to get the most out of it, and still be streetable.
your heads flow pretty damn good so your not going to have to run a huge cam to get decent power out of it.

i would just call up one of the many companies that can grind a cam, and just tell them what you told us.
you wont be disapointed

i have a custom from http://www.futralmotorsports.com/
similar to the 306 i replaced it with, but made alot more power
