Re: cam question

It's a project that a lot of people tackle. With the help of a friend or two it can really be done in a weekend. The engine does not need to come out. I had a lot of fun doing it.

Re: cam question

yes all of that must be removed to make room. you must have enough room to put the cam in front of the engine and slide it into the cam bearings. The intake has to come off so the lifters can be removed and reinstalled. valve covers off to loosen and adjust the rocker arms.

Re: cam question

BTW, you will also have to remove the A/C condensor and radiator.

Re: cam question

It was close but I didn't have to remove my A/C condensor. I was able to remove the radiator and get enough clearance. The condensor can be moved a little forward to get the necesary room.

Basically everything on the front of the motor has to come off- crank pulley/hub, waterpump, distributor, timing cover (you must drop the front of the oil pan down a little to remove the cover), then the valve covers and intake manifold need to come off.

The only really time consuming/crappy parts are dropping the front of the oil pan and adjusting the rocker arms.

Re: cam question

It's fairly easy, just takes alot of time. And don't do what I did and rip the oil pan gasket. The hardest thing for me was to adjust the rockers (took me 2 times).
