if you have to pass cali emission with your heads/cam car. your gonna not gonna take full advantage of the situation.
have you thought about nitrous? you would probably end up being faster than a cali emission head/cam car. its just a suggestion, im not trying to tell you what to do. you could take the money you would have spent on heads and buy a nitrous kit. think about it
full bolt on car with a cam to pass cali emissions-roughly 320rwhp
add a 100 shot of n20 and that puts you over 400rwhp.
only a few ppl with ported heads/big cam hit over 400rwhp
it just a thought.

my cam is a 224/230 on a 112 lsa, and imo its not mean sounding.
this winter im going to swith to the new 233/239 or the GM847 that will really make the headwork shine, but i will probably need to increase my stall....shoot me a pm if you get stuck or have a question about the cam/heads deal. been there done that
its money well spent, im so glad there is no emission here...

are you doing headers while you do the heads/cam? stall and gears are a must if you want the full effect on an auto.
what kind of headers are legal in cali?

no the higher stall makes the shifts really soft, i used the transgo on stage 3, the 1-2 is very firm, it will bark my street tires on a part throttle shift at 4000rpm....the 2-3 is very firm, you can feel it spin if the dry pavement is cold. i love my 3.73's i turn 2400rpm in OD at 60mph and 3400 in D at 60mph. you get used to it, it seems like stock after a while.

btw my wifes eclipse turns 2400rpm at 60mph also with stock gears...go figure?

im not sure i understand you question about the transgo holding the gear while you manually shift.....i know if you lock it in 1st or 2nd if will bounce of the rev limiter and not upshift....but stock does that....transgo just effects the firmness of the shifts. for everyday driving its not that noticeable, like when i let the car shift around 3500rpm. but yes i love the hard shifts.
thats true about the hpp it only affects part throttle shifts, our cars are programmed to shift harder under WOT from factory.
