Cam ONLY / STOCK HEADS guys please (rockers OK)

I'm trying to do some research on specific cams and how they perform on stock headed setups. So, all you stock heads guys, here's your chance to speak up!!!

What I'm looking for:

CAM
Exhaust Setup
Intake Setup
Rockers

Biggest things:

Dyno Charts/numbers (charts preferred to see the curve)

Times/timeslips.

Hopefully this will prove to be a very useful thread to those considering what cam to choose ect.ect.

I suggest you PM a guy on this board. His screenname is atljar. He has turned a best of 11.98 with stock heads, 1.6 RRs, a GM 847 cam, and a set of Hooker? long tubes.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of him. I'm looking for a variety of people/combos to chime in here for comparison purposes.

Stock Heads
Hotcamkit
SLP cai, stock throttle body & unported LT1 intake
SLP single cat shorties, single cat (or ORP/cutout) Borla catback

I dynoed it with the stock cat, not with the ORP/Cutout and right after installing the Hotcam kit, it had a torn plug wire causing the miss after 5200 rpm and it made 327rwhp/328rwtq I'm pretty sure it will dyno higher than that now the way it's running (10-15hp more possibly), I'm having it dyno'd again soon. Best run after fixing the miss and through the ORP/Cutout was 12.18 @115 1.86 60ft (42 degrees, 40% humidity) Other boltons are listed in mods below.

I think that the weather was playing a very large factor in that, but those are still GREAT numbers for a hotcam car!

Interesting thread.. Especially that i got a fresh LT1 and a hotcam and a 847 at my disposal.. Be interesting to see what these could do and at the same time help me learn how to play w/ dfi..

Thanks man The last time I weighed it the race weight with me (170) was 3550. That was with 17" wheels and without the spare/jack and maybe 1/2 tank. Since then I also removed the back seats, A/C, AIR, front sway bar, skinnies up front and was running less than 1/4 tank. I woud guess it may have been 3400? Not many places I run it at have scales to check though.

Fastbird, that's why I posted the temps, I know they had to be worth 1-2/10 that day

Kinda depressing that these guys are probably quicker w/ stock heads and cam than my car is lt4 heads and hot cam kit. Lets talk 60 foot times and suspension mods. The big deal here is all of these guys probably hook hard as hell.

That's why I'm looking for dyno numbers too. For a "SAE" comparison.

Gregg 97Z, the weather probably helped, but your times got me going. I'm almost the same weight give or take, and have no problem cutting a 1.9 short time. With the track I go to and the cold weather you're making me think I could see an 11 slip in street trim since I've got almost 50 HP on ya.

Fastbird, I wouldnt be surprised if your car could run in the 11's with that kind of power and a good 60'. I wish I had some more recent dyno results than I do but I think my car is making more than 327rwhp now. Since that dyno I changed several things: fixed a bad miss from a torn plug wire, removed the stock cat and went to an ORP/Cutout, added a 255lph fuel pump and new fuel regulator. Just wanted to mention there were several changes I made between that dyno run (April/May 03)and the times I ran (Oct 03) in case anyone is trying to make a correlation between the two. Should have new dyno #'s soon.

Either way, you're car is putting impressive numbers down.

I'm expecting mine to run 11's no problem, on ET Streets. Unfortunately, I don't have a 12 bolt, and a good short time is hard to get since I have a McLeod Street Twin for a clutch. I'm actually going to be pushing it (on my rear end life) when I do finally make the track.

But the way I was looking at your times, I am kind of thinking if I catch the right weather, I might be able to cut an 11 in street trim. I would be estatic about that. But I'm not getting my hopes up. That's tough.

i dont have much in suspension.

LCA arms with brackets and a panhard bar.

I also have lowering springs, which hurt traction, lol.

High 1.6 60' come with ET streets, skinnies up front, and the front sway bar removed. 6k+ clutch drop.
