You guys think I should just throw the stocker in it for now and get them matched later, thats kinda what I would like to do, but my money loaners are saying, put new cam in now. IMO I should wait.

I've been nothing but pleased with my results from them, they even contacted me after seeing my numbers online to find out which cam they had given to me for reference. Between LE, AI, and others, i would go back to AI

I think you should wait, otherwise, you are going to be mismatching parts in my opinion and you will not have a well running setup.

Either I am confused or you are getting a lot of bad info so far!

I would not recommend any of the cams listed so far for a 383 and ported heads. It won't be very efficient if you do so!
The reason I say this is that the additional dispalcement makes that cam even smaller than what it is. Not that small is bad.......trust me I know this and I have one listed below in that same class. If you have entered your info correctly on that site then it will show you from THEIR product line which is best, better, good from what you enter as your goals.
The custom cams suggestions are not part of this response

I am building a 355 with that same compression. When I submitted to Comp for a custom grind they pointed me to look at the cc465. That is their version of a torque monster, places the hp @ 400 and tq @ 520 on that program. It has low duration and high lift. I still don't think that is even an appropriate choice for your 383. I am going custom btw.
You have to decide what your goals are, establish them and go from there. Good luck with your build!

I didn't worry about it on my first cam, thinking it was all internet hoopla and spun a bearing in 500 miles. Next time I did it right and dropped the pan and put in a new oil pump with a white spring. Cheap insurance...too many people spin them too many times for it to be a coincidence. It's been thousands of miles on the cam now with no issues. I'd STRONGLY recommend it.

Do you have any limits on how high youd be willing to rev the car. For a 383, I'm sure you can get away with a bit more cam than a cc503. If I was spending the money to go 383, I'd spend the extra $100 and go custom...
