cam or no cam???

I'm ready to start doing some more mods. the ones i have already done are in my sig.

Should i put a cam in my car or should i do NOS? i want to sound a little meaner and go a little faster. NOS will probibly be my final mod.

How hard is it to put in a cam? do i have to drop the motor? what all comes in a kit and what should i expect to pay?

what kit would be the best for me?

Go with the Hot Cam kit. It is a pretty comprehensive kit that includes many of the things u need, such as springs, rockers, shims, and the cam. This will be good for roughly 30 horsepower.

U will need to purchase a cam swap gasket set and probably some tools, depending on what u have. The install should take about 2 days if done properly (giving overnight to let the seals dry so that u don't develop and oil leak)

U don't have to pull the motor, but if u can it may be easier to get to, because u will have to remove the opti, intake, etc.

Definitely a worthwhile mod though for the money. After the cam, it would be a good choice to get ur car programmed to optimize the performance.

For an "off the shelf" cam i like suggest an Xe 224/230 on a 112 or 114 for nitrous, i'd go 112 myself.

Hotcam is about a 4 at best.

112 and 114 diff types of n20? what does that stand for

what would the cam your talking about sit on the chart?

i would rather do a kit with the rockers and all. do any cam kits come with the 1.6 RR>?

i know this is off subject, but if your planning cam or nitrous you should consider a clutch. if you're running stock it's only a matter of time before it goes once you've added power. i only suggest this because if your on a budget like me it sucks to have new mods and no be able to drive your car cause you broke something else.if you want to be fast with an m6 start with a street twin and a 12 bolt.
just a suggestion, but true.

112 and 114 are reffering to lobe seperation angles on the cam. Most all kits come with 1.6 RR

what i think you consider a 6 on your scale and what i consider a 6 are probably 2 different things. I would consider my cc306 about a 7. So being alittle more conservative I'd go with: trey's suggestion, cc305, XE230/236 or a custom grind. Witha 6-speed you can get away with a bigger cam and not lose as much driveability.
