Cam mix-up

Ok, now that I pulled my cam out, I see that my new cam, which came to me from Comp Cams in the wrong style. The new one has the long pin, and the recess in the front is not the conical shape of my original cam.

Can I just trim the pin and use this cam, or do I need the older style with the conical shaped hole?

What year engine do you have?

If it's a 93 or 94 just tap the pin in to the correct legnth and slip it in.

Just to close this and leave information for future searchers, I got an email from Lloyd explaining that Comp Cams sends all thier cams out with long pins to avoid having two types of cams in stock. He said to just cut the pin down to the correct length. Lloyd, thanks for the quick response.

Well that is not the case with mine. I needed the long pin and had a pin mailed from comp. It just sux having to mess with putting in a pin and risking cam surfaces etc.
