Cam Lift

The XE 227/233... (Cam I am getting) has a .563/.569 lift on it I heard. I heard that is a HUGE lift... Does that mean this cam isn't streetable?

Whats the lift on the Hotcam? CC306? I am curious to see the differences...

I heard the XE227/233 is almost perfect for stock heads though. So i'm excited that I should see more power out of this cam then bigger cams on stock heads.

Re: Cam Lift

I beleive the lift for the Hotcam is around .525 with 1.6 rocker arms. I have the cc305 and the lift with 1.6 rocker arms should be around .544

Re: Cam Lift

Im running the 227/233 on the street and its very streetable. Its on a 111 LSA and I did notice a difference in the brakes due to lower vacuum but its not that bad at all. The lift on the cam is somewhat high but not huge. All in all, I love the cam though. Good luck with it.

Re: Cam Lift

111LSA that means very little lope right? So its noticable but not TOTALLY noticable that you have a high performance cam?

You drive it everyday? I will be driving mine so i'm kind of curious.

Whats the stock lift on a LT1?

Why is the XE227/233 cams lift so freakin big?

Re: Cam Lift

The smaller the LSA the lopier the cam is.

Re: Cam Lift

Trust me, people are gonna hear ya comin and know youre bad.

www.pendragonworks.com/tmca/boexhaust.avi

There is a crappy vid of the cam at idle for a second and a couple lil revs and then a pop.

CAUTION--Slow download. Beware. Its not that great of a video. Youve been warned.

Re: Cam Lift

one statement i read is not exactly true, that is about the lobe sep and the lope of a cam, that is not true!the duration @.050 is what makes the lope or choppy idle, not the lobe seperation.the cc305 has a 112 lobe sep but the duration @.050 is 230/244 this cam sounds awesome.pulls very hard!

The cc305 I had in my car was on a 114LSA although you can probably get it with the different LSA's.

I'm not trying to sound like an *** but how can you decide what cam you want when you don't know what the specs mean? Its something i don't understand is how some guys just see someone else used a certain cam and they decide that is the cam for them. Anyways, is that the lift of the cam with 1.5 or 1.6 RR's that will change how they compare. The hotcam with the 1.6's is .525 lift the CC306 is close to .575. The lift won't effect drivability. Duration and lobe separation will both effect the lope.

Re: Cam Lift

I got the specs from CMS.com and thats what I was told to get. THe dude this is perfect for my needs. But the specs seem so much higher then I thought they would be. So I was a little curious to see how drivable this thing was with such a big lift.

And yes this is going to be used with 1.6rr.

Re: Cam Lift

Just called Dave from cms.com and its a great cam and mid 12's shouldn't be to much of a problem. If I go Jet Hot LT's and DR's a 12.4 should be feasible. On top of that... if I get a 114LSA, he said 114 because I won't be revving passed 6k. He said I should keep all of my low end grunt too. So thats kind of awesome to hear.

Just curious now about everyday driving in rain? But mid 12's are going to be fun... :-D I am hoping for about 350rwhp or something on stock heads too. Going to be great.

Also, lift is .560/.569

Again, I drive mine everyday, rain or shine. Most of the time on fats and skinnies. With a M6 and all the bolt ons, you could be around the 330-350 mark with stock heads with that cam but everything better be perfect. Id say look for 320-330 and be suprised if you do hit 350.

Also, why wont you be revving the cam past 6k. That cam in my car makes great power all the way up to 6400, then I get scared and let off since I have 150k miles on my bottom end.

Re: Cam Lift

isnt the lift on the 227/233 .560/.569? that really isnt a huge lift at all! Toss on some springs good to .600" and you're set. That'll be the cam I'll be going with once I save again. Ive heard it has great street manners with a good tune. Cam surge can almost be eliminated!
