Cam install costs?

Anyone have a general idea how much it would cost a shop to install say a hot cam kit?

i thought that was a decent price.

A craftsman mechanic's tool set is about 180 to 210. PLus a 12 pack of Bud light, about 8 bucks.

So for about 188 to 218, that is about what it should cost. Now if you already got tools, you looking at about a 8 dollar install job.

Montezuma -- Where abouts in 'the land of oz' are you located?

Shop prices will vary -- you'll just have to call around and ask. Though, if you live near me, I'd be willing to help you install it.

Oh I disagree. THe beer increases the amount of blood flow to the cerebrum of the brain, which in turn increases the amount of car knowledge flow and mechanical ability. After a few beers, a "mechanic" might be more resourceful than a fully sober person. After a few beers, a "mechanic" tends to mock the ability of a crafty veteran.

anyways, to sum up = Beer is good before, during and after a heads/cam swap. Now for a longtube install, you better start drinking about a week in advance, because you really need ot be on top of your game

Beer keeps things in perspective. You act silly, and you spend so much time ridding yourself of said beer that you don' t have a chance to get really pissed at the car (cause you're too busy pissin on the side of the house ). Just make sure you're sober before the test drive commences.

aint that the truth about peeing on the side of the house. Our problem is we do all of our work at my little brother's apartment complex. He is lookout for me when I am peeing on the apartment and vice versa I am lookout for him. But I "accidentaly" missed two girls out for a walk one evening. Boy he gave me **** for that. Beer goes hand in hand with automotive tasks.

if you do it yourself and do it correctly, with the hard parts (cam, spring kit, rockers, timing chain, waterpump) + misc BS your talking about $1000. This shop thats only going to charge you $400, are they going to replace the timing chain/springs/retainers/waterpump/etc like you would under there? You HAVE to have the first couple items, the waterpump is just a safety.
