i got my new cam today and it has some directions saying to degree the cam . do i have to do this? what is it?

 

I'm not sure but I think is has something to do with lining the dots up when you install the cam. You can off-set the dots and your timing will be advanced or retarded. But, I don't think that you need to do this. Just line them up. But maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I'd like to know also.
