cam help lt1 california

ive got a 97 lt1, and im lookin into puttin a lil bit bigger cam in there while ive got the block stripped down. ive talked to a some peeps from comp cams and they said they didnt have anything that would maintain that C.A emissions. Any body have any recomondations for a cam that will still let me pass smog. What about an lt4 hot cam will that do the trick. If anybody has anything please let me know.

I think what they were telling you is that they don't have anything that's CARB certified. Which isn't the same as having anything that will pass.

Plenty of people have passed in CA with the hotcam with good tuning.

if i'm not mistakin most of comp cam's street cam's have a C.A.R.B. number, but i'm not 100% sure. a cc305 will get you past emmisions. no doubt there. you can always call them and ask for cam's that are C.A.R.B. friendly.

Re: cam help lt1 california

I would not go any bigger than the hotcam. My motor was fresh, with 2 new O2 sensors, a new cat, and custom tuning from MadZ28.com - it just barely passed. Everything was fine except for HC - right at the limit. But that could be due to the wornout distributor cap. (soon to be fixed!)
Otherwise, I love the extra power of the hotcam vs. stock and would highly recommend it.
