cam help

This summer I plan to do a lot to the car.
Right now I have suspension parts and 3.42's along with CAI blah blah blah.

Full LT exhaust (no cats) and a 2800 stall are next to come.

I would like to make 350ish rwhp on the stock heads (ported) and a cam. I thought about a LT4 hot cam but from what I can see I would get lower 300 range at the wheels. A LE1 cam or CC305 comes to mind but I still think those are lower 300hp cams or should the ported heads and exhaust get me close with a tune? What I like about the LT4 Hot is that you can get it with the springs and rockers and all that for a pretty good price but I would really like to have the car in the 350+ range and then be able to spray it.
CC306 maybe with some springs and rockers? The car is not a daily driver and I don't care about ride quality or engine idle or anything like that :P

Should I just be happy for 300ish and spray it for now?

Re: cam help

Might want to do the stall based on where your mods take you. 2800 could be low. As far as cam recomendations I'd check out www.cmotorsports.com They've helped me out a lot when I was chosing my setup a while back. With spraying you will hear "try and keep a 114+ seperation" For a couple hundred more then the LT4 hotcam kit you will see much more significant gains.

BTW, you're not the only one that's asked this question. Try searching

I did try a search but most of the stuff I found is people looking for a good daily driver/ 350rwhp and less car and no stall.

I know a 2800 might be a little low depending on what I go with. I was thinking about a LE2 cam but I really think its to much for stock valves and an average port job. Once I decide on a cam then I will know what stall to get. I was going to go with a LE2 package but I don't think I want that much right now but I hear the LE2 is simmaler to the 306 and makes power sooner so maybe it would be allright with stock valves. I might just wait till next winter so I will have enough money to have everything for a LE2 LOL. Thanks for the link, I will look into them.

Re: cam help

I went the 306 route with unported stock heads and am at the 350rwhp mark.

Re: cam help

I think you need to do a little more reseach. You will that the LE1 package will more then 350 rwhp.

Re: cam help

You can get to the 350 RWHP with a hotcam, 1.6 R/Rs and a good port job on the stock heads. One of the guys on the Corvette Forum is geting 380 RWHP with stock TEA ported heads, 1.7 R/Rs and LT's. 340-360 should be about right with a set of good flowing ported LT1 castings and the HC. With that said the LE package is hard to beat and the heads and cam are matched.

Not too bad. The torque converter and a good dyno tune helps a lot.

and your last sentence confused me.

I thought about a LE1 but I will have to change everything so why not just go LE2 and the LE2 is not much more. The cam issue is my main problem, I am not worried about everything else, I could go 306 but I know the LE2 cam pulls sooner. I might just say forget it and buy a LE2 head/cam and be done with it so I know what I am getting LOL. Just need lifters, rockers, injectors, TB, ect ect.

Re: cam help

I was basing my statement on the fact you said you wanted 350 rwhp. When I have the extra money to play, I am planning on head and cam combo from lloyd. Whatever choice you make, you can't go wrong with heads and cam from lloyd.

I know what you meant . I know lloyd is the best choice, its just going to hurt my wallet, but then again making cars go fast does that.
I just know what I want and I don't want to make a mistake and have a ton of money down the drain so I think the safest bet is to save for a LE2.

Re: cam help

You could just do the le2 cam and then save the cash needed to have heads ported.

Re: cam help

Well I made up my mind. LE2 heads and cam is in my future. Exhaust and all that is coming first and then I will get the injectors and TB and all that. Once thats in I will get them and do it all at once. HMMM I wonder how that fresh 10 bolt will hold up..... I can see it now, dump a ton into the motor and first time out gernade the rear and have to get a 12 bolt then gernade the tranny at 6krpm and have to get a 1,500 or so tranny LOL. Since the tranny has only 8k miles on it I might get some things done to help it out at high RPM. My luck would be they still both blow hahaha.

With this I doubt N20 will be in my near future, I know 420 at the wheels and a 125 shot is asking for trouble in the drivetrain area on any kind of GOOD launch LOL but you never know, it could happen.
