Cam/Head/Lontube Package install question

im pricing everything out now and it wont be for about 2 months but i need someone in the long island area to do a heads/cam/longtube headers install, im probably going kooks headers with le2 or le3 heads and whatever cam he recommends, the car is a 96 ta with 15k baby miles, it was my fathers but he gave it to me before he passed away recently and we had big plans for this car, any info to point me to the right people would be appreciated thx guys

Whatever you do make sure the individual doing the install knows the LT1 well. You want to make sure you get an accurate estimate for the parts and labor associated with the install. Sorry about your Dad dude. If it was me i'd find someone with the knowledge to help me install the stuff so I could take some personal pride in getting it to what you two had planned.

Re: Cam/Head/Lontube Package install question

thanx,

thats what i would love to do the problem is i cant really find anyone whos an lt1 pro on the island, i still have some more calling around to do but if anyone knows of a good lt1 shop within range let me know, im mechanically inclined and have done alot of maintenance and odds and ends rebuilt dirt bike motors etc , but have never tackled heads/cam etc, and would likely need a helping hand who has done it before preferrably more then once lol, but anyway anyone with advice feel free to chime in thx guys

Re: Cam/Head/Lontube Package install question

I had never done it before and did it myself. If you would feel better with someone helping you I would go into the regional section for your area and ask around for some help. I'm sure someone could set aside a weekend to help out for a minimum amount of cash and maybe some beer. I'm sure you can handle it. Not too difficult at all for someone with mechanical skills and the ability to follow instructions.

Re: Cam/Head/Lontube Package install question

I did the whole thing in my garage with my jack stands and my socket set. I did it all with me and one buddy drinking beer and turning wrenches. Took me longer than a weekend though.... more drinking and jabber jawing than wrench turning. LOL

I'm sure there has to be a decent shop somewhere in the Long Island area, isn't Kooks shop in long Island? Maybe when you get the headers you could ask them if they know any good places.
