Cam experts inside (396 Solid Roller)!

I have a 396 solid roller in my 95 Z28, 242in. 254ex. 609in. 622ex. 113 lobe seperation. Made 420hp & 379fpt @ the rear wheels. Changed cams 254in. 260ex. 654in. 652ex. 112 lobe 108 centerline. Made 409hp & 365fpt @ the rear wheels. I know that the numbers are not very impressive for a 396 solid roller with Comp. ported AFR 210 heads (Compression 11:7:1). Can someone explain to me what causes the torque and horse power to be so low with my combo, and maybe shoot some cam #'s where I need to be, thanks!

Before commenting a couple of additonal pieces of info are needed. You posted peak hp and torque but no rpm figures and no numbers at other than peak. IOW, it would be useful to actually see the dyno graphs. Did you log AF ratio, knock retard, etc.? Did anything else change? Were the numbers corrected for the conditions? As JM said, what do the heads flow? Etc., etc. The more info, the more useful responses you will get.

I can only make the general comment that the cams are so similar, I would expect similar hp.

I guess what they advertise Jordan, I have never flowed them. I guess 280 @ 600 lift, but that should be adequate for a least 450hp & torque to match. There is no knock, because the sensor has been turned off. The horse power dropped off @ 6500 rpms. Yes, I logged the air fuel ratio, it was 12.5 @ wot!

How do the dyno runs compare in the midrange? Were the conditions the same or were they conmpensated for?
