Cam dowel too long on a 94

Well im assembling a motor for a kid I know(accessories and **** and putting the motor in). Looking at the motor tonite I notice a problem. On the 94 timing cover the cam dowel needs to be really short. On this cam it looks to be a 95+ cam dowel for a vented opti. Napa got the right year of timing set and everything, but the cam dowel is way to long. Is there a way to remove the cam dowel, or should I just have him take it back to napa and make them fix it since they didnt get it right.

Thanks alot guys. Never had this prob with my car.

I've heard people say they remove the pins or drive them in farther but i've never had any luck with either. I usually just trim them off with a grinder, thats what a lot of other guys do as well.

Cut it off to the right length.

Trim. I wrapped a kid's band aid on the dowel and trimmed at the end. Perfect width!
