Cam Dowel pin? On a vented opti

Well when i first put the cam into the 350, i matched it to the old one, which was .550" so thats what it is set at right now.

I guess "GM Spec" on this is like .620"?

The opti sits almost on the cam gear right? So it should be fine? Im thinking a little bit too short is better than too long.

Also think that matching it to stock is going to be better than using the GM spec....

i think i might put some play dough in the opti hole, and see if the pin has sufficient "insertion" into the opti

yea it sits PRETTY close so it shouldnt be a problem! i would worry about it being TOO long, so make sure that when u put the opti on look at where the 3 bolts go that hold the opti down and make sure those are sitting FLUSH with the timing cover! that way when you tighten the bolts down your not pressing the dowl against the bearing in the opti! that happened to me and it chewed up my opti!

i would rather have too short than too long. If the cam still spins the opti call it good.
