cam dowel pin length?

cam dowel pin length?

I have a cam out of my 96 lt1 that a buddy of mine wants tobuy and he has a 94 what is the difference in the dowel pin lengths? Also what is the easiest way to change them?

i dont know the exact lengths, but i know the cars with a vented opti havea shorter dowel. all i did was tap mine in a little with a hammer. it only needs to stick out as far as the cam sprocket is thick. hope that helps and maybe someone can give you more details.

No...non-vented optis use the shorter dowel pin.

Or if you don't like hammering on your cam, poke a hole through a t shirt and push the dowel pin through, using the t shirt to cover up the rest of the cam. Then break out the dremel.

ok, by vented i mean the one with 3 vent holes in the aluminum casing. they look like vents to me, and i had to shorten the dowel pin. eh
