cam "divet"

Ok guys I need to know your opinions on this. Need your opinions on what happened, why it happened and whether the cam can be used again (not by me, my brother wants to know)

Here are pics:

What does the roller-lifter look like that was on that lobe? I could have been a lifter failure that caused the problem, the cam is only half of the mating surface. If the engine was a large stroker, it could have been a rod or rod bolt.

What kind of cam is that? And I would have to say no, you can't re-use it.

Is that a gouge!? I wouldn't even consider putting it in a motor if it is.

Kinda looks like lifter damage. And no, I would definitely not use that cam again.
