cam decision help!!
ok, I am replacing my lifters here in a couple a days, and figured i should do the cam at the same time. What cam should i choose. i was thinking either cc-305 or cc-306. help and input greatly appreciated.
My mods so far are as follows: moroso CAI, underdrive pulleys, muffler eliminated exhaust, CSI waterpump, 160 thermostat, built transmission w/transgo shift kit, 3" exhaust cut-out,fan switch, free mods.
97 z28 A4
i will be doing the cam, lifters, springs, and retainers.
will be getting nitrous soon. it is also my daily driver.
cc-305 or cc-306?

Look at my sig. My Z is a daily driver with no issues at all. You will have to reprogram the pcm and you will not get the max performance out of the cam unless your heads are ported (stock heads can be used but I don't think you get as much out of the cam). It is lopey. Some people complain that there is not enough vacuum for the brakes. I've never had a problem with that. Some poeple also say gas mileage sucks, but my combination only lost about 2 mpg. The 305 is a good cam, but not much better than stock. If you're going to spend the time and money on the project, go a little bigger than you will not regret it latter.
Since your car is an A4 and you don't have a torque converter, I think it would probably be better if you stuck with the cc-305, the cc-306 may be a little much. You really should think about doing headers at the same time also.

i would say cc305 or something similar, i have the 306 on my car and lt4 heads. The combo is great, makes alot of power (it fried my clutch so i havent been to the track yet) somtimes cam surge and the idle get anoying, gas milage isnt that great either.
I have also heard that with stock heads, the 305 will make almost as much power as the 306 and the 305 will give you a more usable street powerband.
I also plan on going with n2o soon (a large shot since i have a forged 355) and i will be swaping my cam for a cc305 or simialar cam. (probably and XE) Also i need to swap out the 306 to pass emissions hear in New Jersey.
So i say cc305 for you
