Smile cam comparison. help!

I am looking at two cams that are both mild grinds. one of these will be making it into a 95 z28 with a borla adj. exhaust(currently wide open plate) k&n cai, airfoil, aftermarket maf, with 160,000miles. one is a CCA-07-502-8 218/224 with .495 int/ .503 exh with 1.5 rockers; or .528int/ .537exh with 1.6 rockers.

the other is a

cc304 cam. 210/220 duration .500int/ .510exh.

I plan on either porting my stock heads or getting them ported and plan on some mac midlength headers. Overall, my goal is to build this for mid to high 12's(more likely high), maintain similar to stock gas mileage, and Pass CA smog! this setup shouldnt be too straining on my motor either so hopefully it will work out well. any opinions!!!!!??????

Re: cam comparison. help!

go with the biggest you can and pass smog. most people can pass with a cc305 and a tune. some have said they can with a cc306 and a really good dyno tune.

Just my .02 but I am in the process of doing the same project as you. I am going with the GMPP (Crane) 12370846 222 230 .509 .528 .543 .563 112 . The .543,.563 are with 1.6 rockers. Not too small but not too big. Again just my .02.

I also recommend this camshaft.
