Cam and cam related questions

I've done a bunch of research on 3 different cams. I checked out the hotcam, cc305, and cc503. I will be keeping the stock heads for now. I am also trying to stay emissions legal. After reading about the 3 cams, most people seem to like the cc503 the most. I'm not sure if that one will pass emissions. I have read that people in cali are passing emissions with the cc305 and cali seems to be the most strict on inspections next to NY. I'm leaning toward the cc503 since I have read nothing but good things about it and people seem to prefer it over the cc305 and hotcam. If anyone has any other input on these 3 cams or has any other suggestions, please feel free to chime in. Now for my questions. I apologize if there are too many.

1. Will the crane 10308-1 kit along with the cc 4770-16 retainers work with these cams and stock heads or does anyone have any other suggestions as far as a spring kit goes? I'd like to purchase a whole kit instead of piecing together if possible.

2. I will also be doing a LT install and I already have them so should I wait to do it while putting the cam in as the same parts may need to be removed to do the job? Or should I install them before the cam goes in? I'd rather not have to take the same things off twice but then again I don't really feel like waiting until I have all the parts I need for the cam install and i'd rather have the extra power now.

3. Would it be a good idea to upgrade the stock throttle body or is the stock still ok for this application?

4. Will a 112 LSA be ok for a 150 shot of nos?

5. How much power can I expect with these cams and the mods listed in my sig along with LT's and a good tune?

6. Anything else I should consider picking up or adding on to gain a few extra ponies besides heads? I don't have the cash for heads at this time.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cam and cam related questions

1- The crane spring kit will work and it already has the retainers, but it needs locaters because that kit has shims not locaters.
2- Only thing that’ll be removed for both cases is the alternator and maybe the bracket.
3- Stock TB should be good.
4- Yes.
5- 300-340 rwhp.
6- Stall.

Sorry I made a mistake. The cc 4770-16 are locators and not retainers. So should those still work? Also what would be a good stall for these cams? BTW it will still be a daily driver.

Yes, these locators should work, but you may need to notch them where the valve cover bolt thread is. I used to run a 2800 vig stall with the hotcam and that was recommended by PI.

Re: Cam and cam related questions

I figured i'd post this here instead of starting a new thread. I posted a wanted ad for a cc503 and I got someone telling me they have a better cam for my application. These are the specs for the 2:

Crower part number 00563 cam:
225/232
.534/.549 (1.5 rr)
114 +4

CC503
224/230
.503/.510
112 LSA

As I posted above, I need to pass emissions so since this cam is on a 114 LSA I thought that may help. I will also be using the stock heads for now. But any ideas on how the performance of that cam may be to the cc503? I would greatly appreciate any help.
