HAPPY HOOKER is the name of a fixture to pull the LT-1.It bolts in the fuel rail bolt with the bolts that come with it.It might be a strange name for someone out of contry, but that's it's name.

You can leave the air conditioning condenser in.If you can hook the chains to get it LEVEL so when it comes loose from the tranny it is level (only way it will come out without fighting it) that would be OK,but going back in I would rather be all assembled so I can see the seal on the back of the intake.

I have to decide first whether I should just try and change the outer bearing and leave the engine in or take it out to change all of them...I already have the cam,heads,gaskets...It's just the bearings I lack.

If you just change one bearing would that be bad? I'm thinking the clearance will differ from the old ones still there...could that lead to some inbalance of the camshaft or something?

You are correct in your thinking. It could cause the cam to be out of alignment. If it were me I would change all or none.

Just talked to a local guy here, with way more knowledge than me, who's driving in super comp and he told me that it shouldn't be a problem knocking out the freeze plug on the back and install/take out from front/back new/old bearings..with the engine out...

What did the rest look like? If the fron is the only one that shows wear like that you can slap hammer just the front one out. on a side note, I would emery the thing and see how it cleans up and how much play it has after, its a soft metal so it could have gotten alot of those scars as youpulled th old cam out.

I don't know, I just went home last night after I noticed that front bearing, I'll have to see if I'll be able to see how the others look in there after work today...I was really careful when getting the old cam out but I can't say if I caused some of that or not when removing it, it didn't "feel" like that though...
