Cam Advice and Opinions
Cam Advice and Opinions
My neighbor decided to put a cam in his 93 LT1 6-speed today.. So we tore into it and got the cam out and now we need to decide on a cam... He is going to leave the heads stock with the stock manifolds for now but LTS will be put on in the near future... We want some of your opinions on what setup ie.( springs, cam, guide plates etc) you have ran or are running that worked out good... He wants to make power and still maintain some street maners as well... I thought about the 847,cc 306,or the cam ion solton runs 233/239 on a 112 with 569/577 lift... All of these cams have produced good results but i am still looking for something else maybe....
Thanks in Advance

if he wants good street manners my XE224/230 fits the bill....
i would not go bigger than 230/236 if he wants street manners...
also what gear does he have? a 4:10 would increase driveablity and help keep the car out of the lower rpm range (<2000)

Crower makes some NICE cams.224/228-112LSA 108ICL mid .550 lift was one I run with Very good results .Good power and manners (beat a few 383's with it) Call Dave Crower he may suggest something completely different--He knows cams--unlike some Salesman you get on the phone with other company's.

Just to clarify:
GM 845 214/224 .488/.509 112
GM 846 222/230 .509/.528 112
GM 847 234/242 .539/.558 112
The last three digits (ex.846) are from the total part number. These cams are available from your local Chevy dealer and are ground by Crane cams.
