cam is in

What type of power (hp)are your hot cammed car throwing at the ground? Just got my cam in and the difference is, wow!! Put in the hot cam kit in and got 18 mpg, with out programing!! Got my first cam kill too, on a 99 cobra with bolt-ons. If your thinking of camming your, do it, it's the best mod so far.

How long did your install take? Do you have air tools? I don't have air tools, but my car is not a daily driver, so its okay if it takes 2-3 days or even a week.

I've had the Hotcam kit in a box in my garage for 3 months.... don't have the nerve to tear into the car yet, heh.

Thanks,

Michael

Talking

It took me about 3 days with a couple of set backs. Broke 3 wp seals, an intake manifold to head bolt and I didn't have air tools.Plus a couple of runs to the part store. It wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be, just takes sometime and don't get in a rush!! Definitely the best mod I've done.

Stock tuning, #s below....I didn't dyno high enough though (only went to 5800 RPMS) so I'm adding the KM, air foil and opening my cutout and hoping for myabe 315.

340? Not with shorty headers, you aren't coming close to that.....also you wont be close to that without programming.......I said I will put down more then 305 this time....the powerband goes up with the hot cam so I didn't bring it to a high enough RPMs.....and I'm running rich.

I guess I'll be dumping the shorties as soon as possible in favor of long tubes. Does anyone have a dyno chart of their hot cam car so I can see were they make their hp/torque.

I was also under the impression that 325-340hp was a good expected range for a Hotcam car w/ headers.....

How do MAC's compare? What headers do you have?

Thumbs up

I'll be dynoing my hotcam'd car on the 29th. Send me an e-mail if you want a copy of the sheet.

I took the car out today for the first time since the install and I am very happy . I have PCMFORLESS programming and so far I've seen ZERO knock retard. The program seems to be right on. Before the cam install, I was getting retard at every hard shift.

The car runs like a raped ape compared to before. Of course traction is a major factor right now with the roads still cold and the 4.10 in the back. It's the best modification I've done so far and well worth the cuts and scrapes from the install. Driving the car is a fresh experiance again and I feel like I did when I first bought it.
