Re: which cam?

I would go with a custom cam. It's not all about peak hp. Use calculators to figure out your dcr so you can get optimal HP/TQ across the curve.
Find out the flow #s and then decide.

If u dont feel like all of that i would suggest the CC306 grind cam, just dont forget to upgrade your valvtrain.

I believe you would be happiest with the 217/225 336.67/353.434-------------538.68/565.5 w/ 1.6 RRs-------------if you are considering driving on the street as well as the strip. JMHO

Re: which cam?

oops---I forgot that you want 420 RWHP. In that case, I believe you are going to need alot of the "other" stuff that he can provide.

Re: which cam?

That 3rd cam you are looking at with 1.6 rockers is a nasty one at 112 LSA. I think the 420 RWHP may be a bit ambitious although with the stock 10 bolt and M6, numbers will be good. It's gonna take more than a run of the mill port job and cam I can tell you that.

Re: which cam?

I personally like the 2nd and 5th choice with 1.6s, but I'm partial to smaller cams with bigger lifts...420rwhp is a bit ambitious though, but numbers are just that...numbers...For a point of reference I run a 226/234 in my 383 which is considered a weenie cam by some...

The 2nd and the 5th choice will make for great street/strip cams...The 5th one reminds me of the LPE 211/219 cam which I used before my current cam and it was good for some high 11s/low 12s at 115...

Re: which cam?

You got everything from mild to wild, on there. If you want 420 on a small cam you need some really radical heads, intake, and exhaust setup and maybe you might see 400 maaaaaaaayyyyyyyybbbbbbbbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. But A larger cam should get you there easier... it's down to the heads and intake porting.

I completely agree with this post. I would lower your peak goal to 380 or so and get some torque to go with it.

Re: which cam?

which of those cams is similar to the cc306? or which one is the cc306? im having both the heads and the intake ported, so im not worried about that...i just dont want to put too big of a cam in, and make less power

Re: which cam?

I'd use the 280 XFI-HR13 Comp Cam. It's similar to the 306.

Re: which cam?

The first one 230/236 is the same duration at .050 as the 306.
