Which cam?
Which cam?
I have stock heads and I was wondering if the cc306 would be overkill or would it be good to use. Or do I need to just stick with a cc305. It is a 95 with full exhaust and k&n fipk. And also was wondering how to tune for this with lt1-edit.
Re: Which cam?
I finished putting in my 230/236 112lsa a few days ago. All I can say is WOW! It drives just like it used to with the stock cam and only has a little cam surge (pcmforless tuning and a little tweaking on my part). Above 3k it just keeps on pulling. . .and pulling. . .and pulling
. It also sounds nasty at idle, too. BTW, I also have stock heads.

Re: Which cam?
Ive got a cc306 Im going to put in on stock heads, but I am definitely going to get a port job eventually so I got this cam instead of buying two cams. Remember there is a lot of other stuff you need to do to make this cam work. Valvesprings, new timing chain, lifters, pushrods, stall if your an auto, search around this site a little before you make your final decision.
Re: Which cam?
First make a sig with all your cars information.
You have to figure how high you want to spin and what your goals are for the car. Drivibility, mileage, power, etc all have to be considered.
With that being said, what do you want from a cam?

the cc306 is not overkill on stock heads. several people are using bigger cams on stock heads. as far as the tuning, your best bet would be madz28.com or pcmforless.com. both do great work really cheap.
Re: Which cam?
Edited my sig and now I still have to determine what cam to use, I want to make it fast but I still want it to be driveable. I know there is a lot more to do to it but I am in college and need money so I do what I can. For now it will be cam, rr, springs, and torque converter with a tune.
Re: Which cam?
Well drivibility on a 306 will be questionable depending on your tastes. Youll definately need that stall to take full advantage of it, make sure you get some stick rubber too.

Re: Which cam?
Already spent the money on fixing everything from the opti to the radiator. Had the transmission looked at and it was fine. I have seen the pistions and they are in excellent shape. All I need to do now is make more power.
Re: Which cam?
I'd read madwolfs post about picking a cam. He mentions on where you want to make your power at. The CC306 is proven to make good power on stock heads the only problem is you have to rev to the moon to make power. I don't like reving mine much above 6k. So i'm going to get a custom cam ground to replace my 230/236.
Re: Which cam?
The 306 will work fine on stock heads, better on ported heads. On stock heads, the 306 will peak a little under 6000, so you really don't have to rev too high. But with ported heads, you can rev to 7000 and it'll keep pulling.
