calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
i've heard good stuff about lloyd's heads, had some questions, is this a you send you heads to lloyd and he port them deal, or does he send you new heads? i've read price for the head and joe overton custom grind cam going for around $1100-1500 for the combination, is this true? if the heads are sent out are they just ported and polished or are they also rebuild with better valve spring and retainers? what kind of lift and duration does the cam ussually run? (i am looking for the most performance possible out of this), right now all i have is a CAI, borla cat-back and a test-pipe, and i am going to buy the hooker LT's, what else will i need, or want to buy to make this work? do i need to upgrade the injectors/pump? how much rwhp are is generally made from this setup with a stock bottom end, i was searching on here and heard lloyd saying something about making 405-415rwhp repeatedly with this head/cam combo, what all was this with? was it with a stock bottom end, what else was done to these cars that made that much hp? how much money am i looking at spending altogether with the headers, y-pipe, heads, cam, and everything else i am going to have to buy to make this work?
Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
Hes a very busy guy and having to deal with some important issues right now. Im sure as soon as he gets a chance he will respond to you, have you tried to email him? Hes very good at getting back to people as everyone here with his work will attest too, but he is dealing with some stuff right now so it may take him a lil longer then usual.
Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
Call him up, he is a REALLY cool guy.

I got a set of heads from him. He was a standup guy. I talked to him for a good while and he hooked me up and answered all my questions.

Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
for those who dont know lloyd's mom has cancer. give him some room. heres the email he sent me saturday 7/17:
I have been at the hospital with my mom most of the week as she suffers from brain cancer and they sent her home since there is nothing they can do. I am not accepting work over the next week or so and if she doesn't get any better, I will take it week to week until (or if) she does. I have about 2 weeks worth of work here and on the way to me and I will complete this and then spend some time with my mom. I saved up $$$ so I can be with her the last 2 months her life and it really looks like that time is here. I will complete all of the heads currently here and on the way but as I mentioned, I am not sure when I will accept any more.
I have been very busy and do not have a chance to work in the shop, be with my mom AND answer emails every day. The emails are the thing getting left out right now as I concentrate on the other 2 objectives. If you read on the message boards that I am not answering emails very fast, please inform the of my situation since I have not visited any in a while.
Thanks,
Lloyd Elliott

Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
if anyone knows the answers to those questions please feel free to post a reply on this topic, i know a lot of people on here have talked to lloyd and had work done by him, so maybe someone can help me here, since i posted this i have found a few answers searching the forum for previous posts, but i guess all in all i'm just trying to figure out whether or not i can make this work for somewhere around a 3-4 grand budget, i'm not to familiar with the different stages, and my car is almost completly stock right now besides exhaust, CAI, and Drag radials, i'm figuring about $700 for the hooker LT's and y-pipe, and i saw the LE 2 head/cam package is $1750, what is the difference between the LE 1, LE 2, and LE 3??? (is 3 the highest?) what else will i need? i saw a lot of people signatures including 30lb injectors, is this a must? what about a fuel pump? converter? ect, i'm shooting for over 400rwhp without touching the bottom end, is it realistic for $3-4 grand including tuning???
Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
here are his basic packages. most dont go above 350 HP with the stock injectors. i think i read a post once someone peaked 380 on the stock but the duty cycle was way above 80% and the fuel pressure was just ridiculous.

-----------------------------
LE1 cam pulls from 1900 to 6100 RPM and should make 370-390 RWHP with
matching heads, 30 lb injectors, 52 TB, 1 3/4 LTs, No cats, good tuning,
etc. The heads are ported using stock valves, performance valve job,
back cut valves, CM 612 springs, retainers and locks, milling, cleaning
and assembly. These heads flow about 255/180 with a 195 cc intake port
and stock LT1's flow about 215/150 with a 170 cc intake port.
Heads and cam are $1100 (plus shipping) and will pass emissions with
good tuning. This has the RPM range of the Hot Cam or CC 305 cam but
makes more HP and TQ through out the entire RPM range. This will work
with any gear and converter but the track times will be better with a
stall and some gear.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------
LE2 cam pulls from 2200 to 6400 RPM and should make 400-420 RWHP with
matching heads, 30-36 lb injectors, 52-58 mm TB, 1 3/4 LT's, no cats,
GOOD tuning, etc. The heads are ported and machined for larger Ferrea
2.00/1.56 valves, Comp 987 dbl springs, TITANIUM 10 degree retainers,
locks, locators, milling, cleaning and assembly. These will flow about
270/190 with a 205 cc intake port.
Heads and cam are $1600 (plus shipping) and will need GOOD tuning. This
has the RPM range of the CC 306 cam but will make more HP and TQ at peak
and across the board. The REAL difference will be the LE2 cam will make
TQ in the 2500 RPM range and the cc 306 doesn't start until way past
this. It will make more HP than the cc 306 at ALL RPM's.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------
LE3 cam pulls from 2600 to 6800 RPM in a 350 (2300 to 6500 RPM in a 383)
and should make 410 to 430 RWHP with matching heads, 36-42 lb injectors,
58 TB or mono blade, GOOD tuning, etc, etc, etc. These are the same
heads from above but with Comp 977 springs instead of the 987's. These
are stronger and will also need Comp R lifters to handle the spring
pressure.
Heads and cam are $1700 (plus shipping) and will need GOOD tuning. This
cam is similar to the GM 847 cam but makes about 10 more HP at peak and
starts making HP sooner. Makes more HP and TQ across the board. Needs
gear and converter to work well in a 350. Pretty much a racing cam for
the 350 or a good street cam that will act like the LE2 in a 383.

Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
I am curious as to get the LE2 head/cam package as well. However I am in Alaska and shipping is an issue. I was curious if you just removed the heads and sent them off with all the stock roller rockers etc intact to the head. Also, what is the normal weight of the stock head? I am debating to see if it would be cheaper for lloyd to purchase some stock heads down there and then do the work and then I would only have to pay for shipping to here if that makes since.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, that helps out a lot and i definitely think i am going to go with this setup, now i'm debating whether to go with the LE 2 or LE 3, my camaro is not my daily driver and isnt driven a whole lot, but i do a lot of highway racing and like to drive it on the road, will the LE 3 be streetable at all? Will my bottom end last a hard driven 15,000 miles with the LE 3?
Re: calling nighttrain66 (lloyd elliot)
also noticed how on the LE 2 and LE 3 you mentioned how the head was machined for different valve springs, etc.. so does that mean only the LE 1 comes complete with valve springs, valves and and retainers?
