Exclamation Calipers

I have a 1997 Camaro Z28, how often should i get the brakes checked. I onloy ask this because one of the bolts on my rear left caliper sheered off or something to that effect so the caliper swing backwards and hits this wheels and grinds against that.

I check mine myself every 6 weeks or so just to make sure everything looks good.

Once a year is ok too, I'm just paranoid from an experience with my IROC. Everything was good on it and I checked it 6 months later cause I noticed it sounded like it was rubbing or something. Metal on metal sounds.....well I yank the wheels off and check it out, sure enough for some reason the caliper pushed in more at the top then it did at the bottom and there was nothing left at the top of the pad while the bottom was almost 100 percent, the rotor was pretty much hosed form that too...it was really goofy...only thing I could come up with was something jammed up one of the pistons on the caliper or something...
