CAI from stock box??

Anyone ever hear of the "do it yourself" stock air box intake conversion to CAI? If so can you post how tos for me I'd like to try this out and save a few hundred bucks.

Even though I have posted about this before and no one believes me, i think that a stock modified airbox flows as good or nearly as good as a 200.00 CAI. When i say modified, I mean, you take off the small box that is under the big box with the filter in it and use a hole saw to cut a bunch of holes in the big box on the side before the filter. I believe this because i had this done and ran it at the track. One day later on, I asked a friend of mine if i could borrow his LPE Cai to see if it made a difference. My times were slower by about .2 I know the track conditions could have been slightly different but it was the same track, same lane, and about the same temp. You would think my times would have at least stayed the same, not got worse. I dont think I want to waste my money on one.

I like the looks of the aftermarket CAI I guess you could say a good appearance mod.
