just ordered new tires for my 97 C5 wheels and insted of ordering 245/45/17 I ordered 245/40/17 will they fit on my front rims? They are 17/9" in front and 18/9.5 in rear. Thanks

 

Thye will fit the front but not the back.

You will just have less side wall meaning less tire between the rim and road.

 

yeah I was just worried because I just ordered these tires 245/40/17 and 275/40/18 and I went and looked again at the tires and saw that the front was 245/45/17 so I was afraid that I made a huge mistake. will this screw anything up like the odomiter or speedo?

 

Odometer and speedometer are both run by a sensor in the tranny. The front wheels have nothing to do with those.

By the way, on the 245/40/17, the side wall will only be 12 mm shorter than the 245/45/17 so it's not a big deal.

Ps. Where did you get your rims and how much were they?

 

thats the size tire I put on my C5's I have chrome 02's. If you look at tire sizes you would notice that the main concern is the width and rim size and the sidewall height it up to you. the z06 has 30 on the back (VERY THIN) I used 35 on my 18 inch rears.

 

Thanks for the info I was worried. About the rims I picked them up on Ebay for 750 $about a year ago that was the buy it now price they had goodyear eagle F1 EMT's on them but were worn down to 20% tread. I didnt have enough cash to buy new tires at the time so it was a good buy for me. I just bought new Falken fk-541s for them. I have herd a few guys say they didnt like em but I thought for the price I would give them a try.
