C5 brakes or Baer?

I was orriginaly going to go with C5 brakes but I saw a really awesome Baer brake system on a TA.. just wondering what people think of the two. Car is a daily driver and doesn't see the track too often for the time being. Thanks

I would say C5 just cause there cheaper and probably easier to find parts for. And since its for street use and little track the extra benifits of baer are hard to justify for the $. For me.

A C5 setup will cost you about $750 (including the cost of the custom brackets you'll need). The Baer Track kit is about the same price, better if you get in on a GP. Both kits use 13" rotors; the C5 caliper is built better (more like a forged aluminum part). The Baer kit is modeled after the C4 brakes. I would say for street use, the 2 kits are equal as they use the same size rotors and the pad area is nearly equal.

You need to verify that either kit will fit inside of your rims...the Baer site has templates that you can print-out and check your clearance. I'm running Enkei Winn 17" rims and the C5 calipers would not fit, the Baer Track Kit just fits (0.1" to spare).

What Baer system are you talking about? If you are talking Baer track kit, just go C5.
If you are talking pro, pro + or bigger, go Baer(be prepared to spend mucho $$$ though)

Plan on paying an ***-load for replacement rotors or pads from Baer.

C5 hands down. The brakes are good enough and a lot cheaper plus its all GM parts so you can get them straight from your dealership or from Jason or Dal.

Another vote for C5 if you actually interested in performance.

The Baer is just the C4 calipers.

Talking of replacement costs, Rockauto.com sells the C5 replacement rotors for $18 a piece. Beat that with Baer rotors. Pep Boys sells the same rotors for about $30 a piece, which is still a good deal.

Or go with the C4 set up. I believe it fits right to your car and is a step up from stock. Not too expensive. Unless your going to do some hard core road racing, what more would you need?

It might be a little more involved than just parts replacement. But, This is where I found it. It was previously marked as C4 brakes but they changed it. You have to look under "Factory engineered race parts F car"

I don't know whay they say that but that is said about alot of things we put on our cars. So, who really cares? I found them as an upgrade on that site but now it's different. I don't know why.

im just worried that the rotors may be thinner or womehting that has a short lifespan, thats why it may be "race use only". do you know of anyone using this system? id like to know if this is better then the ls1 brakes.

I doubt that they are thinner. Race use is usually heavier duty. They were specifically listed as C4 brake components for 93+ Camaro's a few weeks ago.
