A/C Pully

My A/C pully is giving out and I asked a mechanic what involves changing it. He told me if its just the pully then thats it but it can also be the entire a/c system with the compresor that is going bad. I really dont understand what the hell he means by that I thought if the bearings went out then you just change the pully not the whole system . Can someone clue me in on this

Not sure on what hes telling you, I know you can usually just replace the clutch, as long as the A/C is not on when it is making the noise it is just the clutch, since it is not spinning anything inside the compressor when the A/C is off.

You could just delete the A/C, that would be the cost effective, weight loss, and clear up the bay a bit, check out the sig.
