a/c problem?

hopfully some of you could relate to my problem and give me some advice on how to solve it, alright guys my a/c is not coming out of the vent holes were they are supposed too. the air is comig out of the bottom and a little from the top, i also noticed something weird, air is also coming out of the firewall where the a/c hose goes inside the car. i think i need some part that will cover the gap where the a/c hose enters the car through the firewall, i tried searching but couldnt find some one that had this problem. any help is needed to solve this problem! thanx

Your vent problem is likely a vacuum leak in a hose for the mode controls. When there is not enough vacuum, the air will default to coming out only the floor and the defrost vents.

Here is some stuff I already have written up:

An easy way to tell what part of the system may have trouble is to go to the vacuum check valve and test the lines back to the mode selector and to the vacuum canister. If you have a hand held vacuum pump, it would be pretty easy. What you would want to do is remove the hoses one at a time and apply vacuum to each and see if it holds. The line to the intake manifold will have to be removed at the manifold and plugged back toward the check valve for you to test the line for leaks. You can test the check valve, too. Sometimes they are the cause of a leak.

If you find a leak on a particular hose, you will have to trace out the cause on that section.
