Bypassing almost all of the Heater Hose Assembly?

Hey all, so my heater hose assembly has gone brittle over time and I need to replace it. There's cracking seen in the vicinity of almost every rubber to aluminum collar so I want to replace more of it than just patching here and there with new rubber hose. For the time being (maybe a week or so) I was hoping to bypass a majority of it since I'm not planning on running the heater in our warm weather.

I'm planning on cutting between 16 and 3 on the diagram in front of the AC compressor and 15 and 16 just below that, which would allow me to put a barb union from 15 to 3. Now my question is will I have problems bypassing the heater core this far up?

I dont see any problem, as long as the lines are not kinked....

Had to bybass mine a couple years ago. If memory serves me right one hose is a 3/4 inch and the other is 5/8. Bought both size hoses, about a foot each also had to get a 3/4 to 5/8 hose barb. Put those to together with hose clamps, and then proceeded to trim each end of the different hoses until it made a nice loop, when installed. Worked fine till I got around to replacing the entire assembly.

Thanks all, I did it with a pair of worm clamps and a 3/4 to 5/8 brass barb I picked up at Lowes today for 2.50.
