Buying a new car, how many miles do LT1s last?

My brother is looking to buy a 94 z28. It is $5900 fairly well optionned. He isn't sure how many miles it has, he's going to call tomorrow. What is the is the max milage that would make the car worth buying at that price and what are other things to look for. I told him not to worry as mine is nearing on 100,000 and has given me few problems.

someone's here has a 94 Z with 278K miles on it, dont worry, LT1 is pretty bullet proof when it comes to high mileage....i have 1 94 Z also and i have 120K on the clock, i just my get tranny rebuild around 2000 miles a go...i got rebuild because it was low on fluid for a long time and i rarely check it(so dumb of me)....anyways, LT1 is pretty strong engine.....must i say a very strong engine

What kind of quarter mile times does it run? I'm pretty pleased that mine ran a 13.89 totally stock at around the 70k mark, if it still ran this good 200,000 miles later I'd be really happy!

No worries LT1's are very durable, as is just about any Chevy small block or big block.

Hey Patman,

When do you plan on modding your Firebird? Seems to me you've had the car long enough to justify getting some mods. Then again mods cost money...

Thanks for the replies. We just called about the car and it has 135,000 miles. We're probably going to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully he'll buy it.

That's the problem right there, mods cost money, something I don't have much of!

Besides, I really want to squeak out a 13.79 from this car without any mods. I'm even planning on doing it on GSC tires (I will be buying a new pair in April).

Plus my long term plan is to get back into an LS1 Formula in 4-5 years. So putting money into modding this car would be money lost.
