buying a LT1 bird have a bout 13K to spend
My friend that is is buying a LT1 formula or T/A and has around 13,000 to spend (on car and mods..lucky basterd) reason being he is getting a scolarship and his mom is givin him the cash they saved for college. Well he does not want to go the forced induction route, and wants to make around 400hp with the cash hes got. So any ideas on what to do to get it movin
I just bought the car in my sig for $9250. Its a Hawk w/ 40k miles. Get a low mileage LT1 for 9k, get some heads and cam, headers, catback, tune, and intake. He will be at 400 HP at the ground (475 to crank). That can be done easliy on 4k if you plan it right.
Well, my buddy just bought a 95 6 speed TA with 87k and a new clutch and trans less than 2k miles old for $5000. Its a cherry car too, it needed a cut a polish and a window motor and tune up. Other than that it was perfect inside and out. There were 4 or 5 other cars in the same price range around here too. So if you look hard enough and find a sweet deal that'd give him at least 6 to play with figuring in that it'll need a usual used car stuff.
I'd just put a Procharger, Drag radials, and a few bolt ons to start. Or I'd agree with the LT4 conversion if you would rather be NA. If you like to drive it more than Drag is get Full exhaust , some intake mods, and Full Suspension from BMR or an equivilant.
I wish I had that kind of money to spend when I bought my car.
