Well I currently drive an LS1 99 WS6 but sadly insurance and the fact im moving into a more expensive Apartment i cant afford the insurance and all that goes along with it.

So im buying an LT1 z28 or trans am.

What should I look for in a good reliable car ? What are some of the things to look out for like optispark so on... Thanks guys

Look for an early 95 single cat car, you get a vented opti and odb1. The 94's have non-vented opti's so be careful or get an LTCC to get the high voltage out of the opti. The 93's have no MAF (run speed density which will result in less MPG), an EEPROM PCM (you have to burn chips instead of flashing) and the autos have a non-electronic 4L60. Or if you are looking for a newer one (95-97) they all have vented optis and you dont hear to many "Opti went bad stories" but they have OBD2 and are a little harder to remove emissions junk from. I like the 94/early 95's because of the easy PCM programming from OBD1 but thats just me. If you want to keep it stock then anything is fine 95+ with way less opti troubles than the 93-94's. They are all good cars some are just cheaper to mod than others. Just my .02

Re: Buying an LT1

Not to start and agrument but 93 also used a slightly different intake setup that doesnt carry over things like the throttle body and fuel rail like the 94-97. Also all 95 Fbodies were OBD1 but used a OBD2 style connector under the dash. Not really a big deal. 95 and earlier also had some different internal parts then 96-97 which gm cheapened up a bit to keep cost down. Personally stay away from 93 get either 94 or 95, and if you dont mind toying with things pick up a 96-97 and change some of their parts. Just my opinion. Iv only ever had really good luck with my 95 and my 94 i owned.
