buying an airfoil
Although if it actually does give a mpg increase I'll do it
Is there any kind of airfoil on the stock throttle body. I just bought a camaro and it has somehting in there that looks like this:

Is that stock?
If so, your are talking about aftermarket ones?.. Can someone post a pic of one?
Thanks

I've been contemplating trying one...but from the sound of it, its not worth the battle to get my trick flow elbow and the rest of the stock pita tubing off to install it. I hate bending over the long *** nose on my bird

C'mon guys...This airfoil isn't rocket science. The Airfoil can be removed via the hex screw, and on the top of the throttle body there is a small opening where you'll typically see little metal wedge that anchors the airfoil so that it doesn't move around. (hex screw threads into throttle body and into the metal wedge)
Even from the dyno graph posted, I still find it hard to believe that you can pick up a couple HP/TQ with it. The best thing you can do breathing wise for your LT1, is to obviously replace all the stock tubing, do not port or descreen your maf, and have some sort of cold air intake, and an aftermarket TB (Throttle response improvement). And for god sakes make sure that there are no leaks, and also do the free Throttle-body bypass mod. And you got a decent setup for a stock LT1. If you have a more extreme engine setup, then there are other custom ways to make it more efficient (ditching the CAI)
If the Airfoil is good for a couple HP, hooray! If not oh well, it still can't hurt anything to have one, and it won't break your wallet in the process

And when your a tall guy bending over the front of a firebird for any length of time its hell on the back
I will admit I am a little **** when it come to wrenching tho....I like things done right
This is one of the most dissapointing threads I've ever been apart of. If you cannot take apart the 90 elbow, MAF and CAI/Stock unit and put it back together fairly quick, then I really wonder why you bother modding your car in the first place.
As for the airfoil, you can find one for $25 on ebay, does it do anything? Maybe...but who cares it's an airfoil. We're not talking about a H/C swap, nothing should be hard or difficult about this thread.
