Buy used rear with brakes vs new brake hardware and gear install later?details inside
Here's my dilema. My rear brakes are shot, both calipers have frozen up on me. In turn that also means I need new rotors and of course new pads. Plus I think during the rollover I either bent and axle just a little bit, or bent a rim. Either way it's not even noticable except to me. It could even be flat spots on the tires. I also would like to get a set of 3.42's or 3.73's sometime in the near future(before the end of the summer) to compliment my shift kit and converter install. I currently have doggy 2.73's btw.
I guess my question is, should I buy all the new parts for the brakes themselves, then sometime down the road buy gears and pay for an install. Or should I just find someone with a rear with stock 3.42's already in it and buy the whole rear with brakes and everything complete. I've seen deals like this for like $200-$400 bucks several times and I'm thinking, with the price a gear install costs and then the price of brakes and stuff would used be the wiser choice.
Thanks for any advice.
