Burnt coolant smell

The smell of burnt coolant is coming somewhere from the engine. I think i must have a leak. It has done this before about a month ago when the water pump hose blew and splashed coolant everywhere causing the burnt smell but eventually it seemed to have went away. Tonight i just noticed the smell again and my heater started working for a little while tonight. Hasn't been in the last couple of weeks. Could there still be coolant burning from the water pump episode or do i have a new leak somewhere. Any help?

I would say that since your last episode was about a month ago that the coolant would have burnt off by now. What you smell now might be a new leak. Mine was going this a few weeks ago and it was leaking around the thermostat. I found it by letting the car warm up and just looked at all the hoses and connections for coolant.

After you drive a good while, and the cars plenty warmed up, pop open the hood and really check all the hoses well. Also, DONT FORGET to check the heater hoses that go into the firewall. Theres two of them. They drip down onto the header and burn off, so it leaves no coolant on the ground. Took me forever to find this leak.
Theres like 11 or 12 hoses total, more than you think, so check them all from underneath and above.

I usually only smell it when im setting in the car when the door is open or window is down. wierd. ill look her over good and tighten everything up if i have time tommorow. Thanks again.
