building 396 oil pan ?
Hello,
im building a 396, w/ eagle h-beam rods and crank. i was wondering what all has to be done to maintain the stock pan. i did a search but found all the related threads to be somewhat vague, can someone please explain to me what i need to do to get it to clear. if possible to also keep a windage tray in.
Thanks, Nick

I went throught the same problem when building my 383 with Eagle H-beams. You cannot keep the stock pan and windage tray. Most people just took out the tray (I don't agree with) and then they massaged (pounded out) the pan to fit. I went and got the Canton oil pan for like 250. It is an awesome pan and fit like a champ. Also holds a quart more oil.

ttt... thanks for your input SJS. What exactly does the windage tray do? is it needed, and what will be the effects of taking it out? i want to maintain the "stock" engine look, and the canton pan looks completley race, and is 250.00 dollars. any other cheaper oil pan alternatives?
Thanks,
Nick
Thanks,
