To build, or not to build?

Alright. I have an LT1 that has just poped a head gasket, (or that is what i think is wrong with it). The car has 115,000k mi on it and has been treated very well. Well I was going to send my heads off to leportworks and get a set of le2s, and run them with full boltons, but i got to thinking. Have u ever had one of those projects that just get out of hand? Well this might be one of them. My question is does a motor with 115,000k have enough life left in it for me not to worry about the internals for a few years or should i just build the bottom end now? If so does anybody have any experience with choosing a good rotating assembly? Here are some pics of my pistons just after pulling the heads. Please tell me what u think.

Re: To build, or not to build?

Just my opinion, I'd personally build a sound bottom end before spending all that time and effort on a 115,000 mile motor......Otherwise, you might be worrying about it every time you rev it up to it's higher (to make power) RPM range......on the other hand, if the bottom end is in really, really, good shape....Good compression, and nice and even on a leakdown test, it "might" be alright for a while depending on where you REV it to, but know one can really tell you for certain....each one is different.............Joe
