On a budget, what srpings?

I am purchasing a cc305 from a board member, I will also need to upgrade my springs when I am doing this upgrade. What kind of springs can I run on a budget. Yeah, those 918's would be nice, but from what I hear they cost almost as much as the Hotcam kit after retainers. What should I do on a budget?

I am not opposed to buying them from a member here if someone has some springs that would work for me? This is going to be for my white LT-1... I plan on getting a Brett Bauer special for my other one. I'll let ya'll know how each of them turn out. My white one comes now, and the black car will come after I collect money for a car I sold.

You hear they cost as much as a hotcam kit? Did you price them yourself? I'm just trying to make a point that you shouldn't always believe what you hear.

Crane has a pretty good spring kit that works well with plenty of cams. It's a dual spring, though. 10308-1 is the part number IIRC. Search around here for "crane spring kit" and you should find something.

Also, don't buy any comp cams 918 springs anyway, they're having issues.

On a budget... pick up a set of PAC-1218 from Shon Herron. He's also got steel retainers (which are plenty light), locks, and seats, that he can sell with them for not much more. Doesn't get any cheaper then that and it's a solid set up.

Check out the PAC Racing post in the Sponsor sales forum.

The Isky 235-D springs will also work fine up to .550" and they are in the
$100 or less range.

If you get the crane kit make sure you use the comp seats crane just gives you flat shims with them which lets them walk around on the heads.

Really?! That is really bad for spring dynamics.

Thanks for the comments guys... I am still trying to learn these cams and set ups. It's a little different from the SBC's and BBF's I'm used to. lol

So, what you guys are saying is that it's not that expensive after all. That's good to hear. I'm trying to pull some times to make the local LS1 crowd take heed. They were shocked when my car outran two stock LS1's (after they talked much noise). Since I'm the only LT1 in our clique I've got a something to prove to make them all respect the motor. Hard to do on a college budget.
