Buddies Camaro Won't Start.
Buddies Camaro Won't Start.
This car was my old camaro. It has been rebuilt with a 355 fuly forged and a hiue cam. It also has a Dynaspark in it for at least 5-6 years. Never had a problem with the dynaspark. Also has a MSD ignition coil. Well recently he went to change the plugs and wires and he glot them all together and ended up connecting two of them wrong. He started it up to move the car, but then didnt have time to fix the wires. He left it over night and came back the next day to fix the crossed wires. I was there when he did this and now the car is NOT starting at all. We can hear it try to start but it just wont. The wires were MSD 8.5mm. We checked the coil to see if it was getting spark and it was. So thats that. We hear the fuel pump engaging and pumping fuel to the injectors. All the injectors are fine. He ended up taking back the MSD wires and argued with them and got the basic autozone brand 7mm sparkplug wires. He got those on and tried starting up and still the same problem. He tried again and it started to run but with the throttle wide open. It made a nice loud backfire then died. Still wont stay running fine.
What could be the problem he is experiencing? We dont think it could be a Dynaspark due to them guranteeing it will be the last one we would ever need. We are lost for words. We checked all connections and everything seems plugged in.

There are no codes showing at least. Crappy thing is its a OBD1 and kinda hard to find a scanner for it. I know sometimes it will show codes without the SES light on which it isnt. I mean the car was running fine for a while then the sylenoid lockup switch went out on the tranny. He replaced that and drove it home, but ever since the plug wire change it has been not starting. Very odd.
Edit nevermind: He just told me the light is on. We will have to check it tom then. Unless Autozone has one.

Hey man whether you use msd or the regular spark plug wires it wouldnt matter it should start either way even if you hooked half of them up wrong it should start it would just have a wild rattle to the engine and would probably shake you whole car. Well if you seeing trouble codes and you were messing with the wires you could have jsut hit something that was fixing to go out. It could be the fuel regulator or how do you know if its not your injectors i had a situation where i took the injectors off when i was replacing the intake manifold and when i put them back on two of them decided not to work again. so if you hit one of them in the process of changing wires then this could be it. Also did you get the injectors flushed or how do you know they are all working currently. And yeah your right its hard as hell to find an obd1 reader. Well the trouble code should tell you whats wrong most of the time so good luck on that bud.
