Question Broken Rocker Arms

When I did my valve spring/1.6 RR conversion last month I went cheap on the rocker arms and bought the CAT rockers off of ebay for $70. Well since then I have broken 3 of the 16 rockers and I have checked the adjustment and all were exactly 1/2 turn past zero lash so I determined the rockers are pieces of crap.

Anyway I bought a set of Comp Cams Pro Magnums. Anyone ever broken one of those? I figure if they break then something is wrong.

I feel your pain. I bought a LT1 engine off of EBay with supposed performance parts. After installing the engine and first start, we noticed a clicking sound from one of the rockers. The noise seemed to come and go so we decided to let it go for a little while since the engine was still being broke in. Needless to say, after only about 60 miles on the engine, the clicking was still there and then BANG, one of the rockers gave way. I had my camaro towed back to the shop to prevent any engine damage. We all thought that the clicking rocker broke but after taking off the valve covers, we discovered that a rocker had broken completely in half! We had no idea who made the rocker but found the cat emblem stamped on it so we took it by some local auto and parts shops. Nobody could figure out who made these crappy rockers until we found them on the internet selling for about $70 a set which is really cheap.

To make a long story short, I decided to get a new set rather than have my car towed back to the shop again and have the heartache. I bought the 1.5 ratio Crane Gold roller rockers. They were very expensive but I haven't had so much as a hiccup from the engine.
