Broken Oil Pump!

Well, I have been having horrible problems. To start, I have had horrible vibrations ever since i did my cam. Never got running great. During the process my oil pump pickup falls off into the pan. It gets low oil pressure while braking hard and you could hear it if you bang on the bottom of the pan. Well tonight, while we are driving it around to see if we fixed the vibes, i get on it, Well after i let off i noticed it had no oil pressure, I thought it was just cause i was braking so i let off the brake, still no oil pressure, so i kill it and coast to a parking lot, well i look under it and see oil draining out, We towed it to my house and saw a hole in the oil pan. 3 hours later we pulled the pan and i have a oil pump driveshaft, oil pump, and pickup laying in my pan. It broke the oil pump right off the motor. ANYONE have suggestions on why it did this. Please give me some feedback!

So did you fix the pickup the first time you say it fell off?

You say you did a cam install. Sure you put the oil pump shaft in correctly? Maybe you fawked something up and it cause the oil pump shaft to stress and in turn cause the oil pump bolt to break as you say it did..

So do you just have a broken bolt in there now or what? Go order yourself an OIL PUMP STUD #ARP-230-7001 summit has them. Since you gotta fix it might as well do it the right way

And no, i did not break the bolt, the bolt and the small half of the pump was on the engine, The big part of the pump was laying in the pan!

No the 4 bolts are fine, Im talking about where the one bolt holds the whole assembly to the block, its still holding onto the block, where the actual pump assembly curves into a skinny part before it gets to the big part, it broke, yes the actual pump borke into 2 peices, imagine where you bolt on the pump, go about 1 inch from the block and bam, it snapped off right there!
