Exclamation Broken Header Bolt

I was trying to get the drivers side manifold off. I put my sockett on the header bolt closest to cylinder 5, I noticed it was loose. I unloosened it with my fingure. Low and behold it was broken off. I don`t understand? Those bolts have never been tampered with. I always thought that car had a slight tick, I wonder if there was a leak? Well, my question is, it`s broken flush with the head....Will the head have to come off for the sucker to come out? Or....Do you think it would be wise to throw it together with out that bolt in place? I understand it would leak....but it`s my driver and it has to get me to work until I can make other arrangements and rip that head off if need be.

go ahead, it might leak, but shouldn't hurt anything else till you can get it fixed
