Broken fuel rail bolt!
Broken fuel rail bolt!
As if my damn luck could get any worse...
I got my new 37 lb/hr injectors in for my LE2 setup. Well I start tightening the fuel rail bolts down. get all of them nearly tightened. Started getting the driver's side rear bolt tight when SNAP. The damn thing broke.
I don't think I can get a tap back there. Would I be OK leaving the fuel rail as is? The rest of the bolts are tight and the injectors are in the manifold.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Your there now, fix it now. Don't just leave it and hope that it will stay put. It probably would stay, but I wouldn't have the peace of mind to drive it.
If you pulled the rail back off, would you be able to get your fingers or a set of vice grips on it and turn it out? Where did the break at, right at the head, or is it at the threads below the grade of the manifold?

Large fuel leak + hot engine = FIRE!! Fix it now! Here's something you can try. Take a center punch and sharpen the tip to a sharp point. Reach back push down on the outside of the broken section of bolt and use the point to try and rotate the broken section of bolt out. Sounds ghetto-riggatized, but it worked for me once.
Worst case you'll have to pull the intake and use an easy out.

I did the same thing on mine a few years ago and I was using a torque wrench set to the required spec. I had mine already pulled off the motor and on a bench so it wasn't to bad. Had to drill the broken bolt out and re-tap the hole and buy a new bolt from my local Chevy parts folks.
You should pull it off and fix the problem and not run it that way. 1/2 days work for peace of mind. New bolts, gasket, RTV and a little elbow grease is
all you need.
