broken differential (sp?)
broken differential (sp?)
hey,
just got a call from the transmission shop...and it's confirmed, I broke my differential. The guy from the shop is offering to fix it up for me for $2500. This would include a jasper diff, possible 3:73 gears, plus labor labor labor. From what I understand, the whole rear end is going to be replaced and the brakes, ABS, etc. is going to be moved off the old unit onto the new. Does this sound about right? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-mj

If the Jasper you're talking about is a 12-bolt or 9-inch, then it might be worth the money. Otherwise, go with either a Strage or Moser 12-bolt or 9-inch rear.
How much power are you pushing to the rear? Usually, it's the ring or pinion that breaks before the carrier itself.
For that money, you should end up with a rear end that will almost outlast the car.
