Angry Broke my converter or my tranny?

I bought my car 2 weeks ago. A 96 Z28 with a B&M Holeshot 2400. Anyways, first day I drove it I could hear a whine coming from the tranny. I figured the converter was whining because of the ****ty tranny fluid the previous owner used. I was planning on changing it tomorrow, but the worst happened today. As I was leaving the gas station I gave it some gas and I hear a *CLUNK*. The car instantly goes into neutral. I tried every gear and nothing, neutral for all of them. All I can hear is the whine, but louder and matching the engine's RPMs. Like they're connected, so Im guessing I broke the converter The tranny was shifting perfectly except at WOT, second gear would slip a bit, but I can blame that for ****ty tranny fluid that turns into water when warm.

Whaat do you think, converter or blown tranny? Or maybe a gear selector wire got disconnected but I'm leaving that out cause of the weird whine (like a turbine).

If it were infront of me, at the shop, I'd put a pressure guage on it to check line pressure. Since most home mechanics don't have a pressure guage, I'd do the next best thing. Pull the bottom cooler line at the radiator, and put a short piece of hose on it. Put the other end of the hose in a suitable bucket or jug, and have a buddy start the car. See if you have cooler flow. It should pump a quart in 20 seconds.
If you have no (or very little) cooler flow, the pump in the transmission is probably broke. If you have good cooler flow, than the converter is probably the culprit.
There's only a few possibilities that will make a car not move at all. This may sound like a silly question, but does the speedo move, even when the car doesn't? If it does, this would point toward a broken rear. Does the car still hold in park? If not, it would point toward a broken transmission output shaft or broken rear.

I hate to say it but it really does not matter which one broke, they share fluid, when one goes it takes the other with it. If you blow the tranny and just throw the same TC back on without having it cut and cleaned the debris can VERY quickly destroy the new tranny and vic versa.

The thing is I have a new converter in my closet for the IROC. It would fit perfectly and if it's only the converter I could just take it out, change the fluid and slap the new on in. But I'm not sure if it's just the converter or the whole tranny or maybe even the rear :S The whine was coming from the tranny area so I would guess it was the converter or the tranny but I'm gonna do Frank's test to see if it's the pump and not the rear
